This course is designed for students with a genuine interest in Sport and Recreation. It prepares them for potential employment in the industry and gives students the opportunity to plan and conduct sport and recreation sessions. The course comprises of 50% practical and 50% theoretical work.
The practical modules selected for each class will be dependent upon the specific expertise of the teacher and resources and facilities available to the class. They may include; Floor Hockey; Cricket/Indoor Cricket; Volleyball; Lawn Bowls; Softball; Soccer; Squash.
Unit content:
5 compulsory core units; 6 elective units; 5 compulsory core units; First Aid qualification; Workplace health and safety; Sports medicine certificates; Coaching sport and recreation sessions
The course prepares students for a variety of post-school pathways, including immediate employment or Certificate Courses at Tafe. It provides students with a range of employment opportunities in the sport, leisure and recreation industries, education, sport development, youth work and health and medical fields linked to physical activity and sport. The course also equips students to take on volunteer and leadership roles in community activities.
