On Tuesday the 30th of April, the College held the annual ANZAC Commemoration.
Due to the weather, an alternative location was organised in our Sports Hall at short notice. This was the first time the event has been held there and a big thank you to all staff who ensured the change of venue was ready in time.
All Year 11 students attended the ceremony to remember all those who have served, past and present while Year 12 students spent time in their mentor doing an ANZAC activity.
The service noted the 110th anniversary of the commencement of WW1 and paid tribute to the memory of the brave souls who served our nation from all walks of life, a multi-ethnic tapestry of individuals united under a common cause. The service also gave us time to reflect on the profound lesson’s history has taught us and to pay homage to the courage and sacrifice of our servicemen and women.
At the conclusion of the service, all guests headed to our Home Economics room for some light refreshments and were treated to an impromptu Haka, performed by Mr Joseph White and students.
The College would like to acknowledge our invited guests:
A special thank you to Mr Ken Joice who has played his bugle of ‘The Last Post’ at our service for many years.
We would like to acknowledge the following staff for their role in the event:
A very big thank you to the Home Economic ladies, Mrs Gail Simpson and Mrs Selena Tate for organising the light refreshments.
