Host Family Expression of Interest
Mindarie Senior College has been offered the exciting opportunity to host several international students in 2024.
As part of a scholarship program, the Brazilian Government is sponsoring 100 students from Brazil to spend one semester studying in a public high school in Western Australia. The students will undertake their studies in Term 1 and Term 2 of 2024 – a period of 23 weeks.
The students are academically high achieving students and are aged between 15-17 years. The students allocated to Mindarie Senior College will be enrolled in Year 11.
We are seeking interested families to host by providing accommodation and cultural experiences to them. Host families will receive full support from the school and the Australian Homestay Network to host students.
Each student will need their own room in the home of a host family. Approximately $340 per week will be provided to families to cover the costs of hosting a student.

Lifetime Relationships
Students are excited about learning Australian English and culture, and your warm welcome improves their chances for academic success and cultural acceptance while far from home. Many students stay in touch with their host families long after they have finished their study. Host parents have even visited students they have hosted in their home country. The benefits of hosting continue long after the student has left.
Learn New Cultures
One of the great experiences offered through hosting an international student is learning about another culture as you get to share your own. Students will share their traditions, meals, and beliefs with you, and it is expected that you will include them in yours. Whether you share culture through food, or discussing cultural differences during the weekends, you’ll learn something new every day.
Earn Extra Money
AHN host payments will assist you in covering the expenses of hosting a student, such as providing meals, and utilities such as power and water. Hosting an international student can be a rewarding and enriching experience for both the host families and students.
