Course Outline

Mindarie Arts Collective is a SCSA Endorsed Program that enables students currently engaged in community arts activities involving dance, drama, media, music and/or visual arts or photography to be recognised for the significant learning encompassed within such activities.

The Collective would also suit students seeking support to grow their presence in the arts community. If you are looking to invest time in your artistic practice, this is the perfect program to select in addition to an Arts course, either ATAR or General, for an intensive and supported Arts experience.

Skills Outline

Students will be mentored and supported to manage their time between external-to-school arts commitments and the demands of Senior Secondary schooling.

If selected, the Mindarie Arts Collective will appear as a Course on the student’s timetable – two single periods and one double per week. Students will maintain weekly contact with their Mindarie Arts Collective teacher who oversees the creation of an individualised programme.

Students will log their out-of-school arts commitments (55 hours/semester) culminating in a performance or production each semester. This performance or production may be a dance, drama, musical item, photograph, visual artwork, media production or film. Examples include student involvement with amateur theatre companies, dance school concerts, arts competitions, exhibitions or showcases. Opportunities to perform and exhibit work can be provided by the College to meet the requirements of the program.

Satisfactory completion of the program requirements is equivalent to one C grade per semester studied and counts towards achievement of the WACE (West Australian Certificate of Education).
