On Tuesday, 28 February, over 100 parents, students, staff and guests attended the Year 12 Colours Evening where 51 students were recognised and awarded Colours badges and certificates for their excellent achievement from Semester 2, 2022 in a range of fields including performance, community work, endeavour and academic results.

All guests were entertained by our music students while being catered for by Ocean Fresh Café.  Well done to Drew Connolly, Morven Selfridge and Miles Trutwein who performed half an hour of cover songs with some amazing harmonies while guests were arriving.
During the ceremony Connor Cancela, Jeremy Jones, Brock Thompson and Thomas Lavery treated the audience to their rendition of popular Weezeer rock song “Say it ain't so”.

The guest speaker for the evening was Nicole Paterson who graduated from the College in 2008. Nicole spoke about her life and career choices since leaving the College.  Nicole could have attended WAAPA to sing and do musical theatre, move to New York to sing on Broadway or take a gap year and work at Disneyland as a Disney Princess. She ultimately decided to do something she was passionate about and studied Photography, Film & Video, graduating with a double major bachelor’s in Creative Industries from ECU and WAAPA. Nicole also spoke about Mindfulness, Mindset and Mental Health and how important it is to incorporate this into your life wherever possible. Nicole is another amazing success story that attributes a lot of her achievements to the help and support she was given while at the College.

The College would like to thank Member for Burns Beach, Mr Mark Folkard MLA and our College Board members for taking the time to attend the event and help present the awards to the students - Mr Mike Gilbert, Mr Brian Piper, Senior Sergeant Steve Leach and Ms Eve Kamugisha.

Student Services will email a copy of the photo taken of the night to parents next week.  Please email  Mindarie.SC.StudentServices@education.wa.edu.au if you do not receive a copy.
