On Saturday, 9 March, over 500 students, their guests and staff members attended the 2024 Year 12 College Ball held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

On arrival, students signed in and were offered mocktails as they mingled in the foyer waiting for their friends.

Once the clock struck 6.30pm, students entered the ballroom to the sight of a staff band playing Yellow and were treated to a magnificent starry night themed ballroom with a large LED lit Willow Tree and an enormous 9 metre Paris backdrop on the stage. All tables were decorated with glittering centre pieces and mirrored bases.  On each table was a selection of delectable entrees for students to nibble on while waiting for the evening to begin.

The event was opened with an Acknowledgement to Country then addressed by the School Captains Chelsea Trail and Heather Mukiibi. After the formalities, students were free to enjoy their evening with dancing, photo booths, professional photography booths and a roving magician.

The main meal was buffet style with offerings of vegetarian and meat dishes with an amazing array of desserts that students were eagerly awaiting and lining up for before the catering staff were ready.

A DJ set the mood for the evening playing student selected songs that had everyone on the dance floor early on. The staff band had another appearance, this time with some very talented backup singers and played another round of songs including No Diggity, Counting Stars, Chasing Cars, Mr Brightside and Living on a Prayer. By the end of the set, the dance floor was packed with the students singing along with the teachers.

Congratulations to the following students who received Ball awards on the night based around the Starry Night theme:

  • Star Royalty (Perfect match/cutest couple) - Abbi Hill and Alarni Merrett
  • Future Superstar - Flynn Triggs
  • Twinkle Toes - Jackson Van Doorn
  • Supernova (happy, fun and friendly – the brightest star) - Malachi Hume
  • Star Sparkle (the person whose smile brightens the room) - Harris Boschman

The night was an overwhelming success and the College would like to acknowledge and congratulate the tireless work put in by our Year 12 Leaders, Mrs Ritz Lillywhite and Ms Lesley Morrow, the Year 12 Student Councillors, the Student Services team and all staff who attended to help ensure the night ran smoothly.

Information regarding the Photo Booth and Professional Photos will be emailed home when ready.
