Today, the 27th of April, the College held its annual ANZAC Commemoration.

All Year 11 students attended the ceremony to remember all those who have served, past and present.   Year 12 students spent time in mentor doing an ANZAC activity.

This is the first time since 2019 that we have been able to share this event with invited guests.

It was a moving service paying tribute to the brave Indigenous Australian soldiers who served in our country’s military throughout history and to commemorate Australia’s exit from the Vietnam War in 1973, the 50th anniversary which falls this year.

The College would like to acknowledge our invited guests:
•    Ms Tracey Roberts – Chair of the College Board
•    Mayor Linda Aitken – City of Wanneroo
•    Cambrai Retirement Village residents - Mr Bob Cotton, Mr Joe McKenna, Mr Geoff Sherman and Mr Arthur Lane
•    Mr Brian Prangnell – Quinns Rocks RSL
•    Mr Maitland & Mrs Lorraine Briggs and Mr John & Mrs Margaret Purchase– Merriwa RAAFA Estate
•    Mrs Jan Hewitt and Ms Terina Hewitt

The College would like to sincerely thank Mr Ken Joice who, once again, played the bugle for ‘The Last Post’ for us.

We would like to acknowledge the following staff for their role in the event:
•    Mr James McNeill, Ms Sarah Moran and Mrs Debra Smith for their organisation of the event.
•    Mrs Leah Allen and Mrs Ritz Lillywhite and the Year 11 Student Councillors for running the ceremony.
•    The Year 12 Captains for helping out where needed.
•    Mr Reese Driscoll and his music student, Suna Wallace for the wonderful music performances of Run Away and the Australian National Anthem.
•    Mr Joseph White, our Design and Technology teacher for agreeing to sing the New Zealand National Anthem at very short notice.

A very big thank you to our Home Economic ladies, Mrs Gail Simpson and Mrs Helen Trew for organising a lovely lunch for our invited guests to enjoy after the service and to the Library staff, Mrs Patricia Clyde and Ms Jane Toomath, for the wonderful ANZAC display and the ANZAC documentarys that ran throughout the day.
