On Friday, 12 June, 444 students and partners and 34 staff attended the 2021 Year 12 College Ball which was held in the Riverview Ballroom at Optus Stadium.  This was the first time the College has held the Year 12 Ball at Optus and it did not disappoint!

On arrival the students were offered mocktails, slushies and other soft drinks as they mingled on the balcony overlooking the amazing football field while taking selfies and group photos in front of the amazing view.  They were also treated to an MSC sign on the big screen.

The ballroom was transformed into a winter wonderland with twinkling lights reflecting off the river and the Matagarup Bridge lit up in blue to represent the College colours.  Students entered the Ballroom via a smoky wooden bridge before finding their table which was decorated with crystal chandelier centrepieces with alternating-coloured hues illuminating the room.

At the beginning of the evening guest presenter, Sharon Wood Kenney addressed the students with a Welcome to Country.  Students then had the opportunity to have some fun photos taken in the photo booths and professional photos taken by Bliss Studio throughout the night. All students who attended will be given a $10 gift certificate from Bliss Photography to put towards their photo purchases.

Students had a selection of delectable food starting with an entre of cooked meats, freshly cooked bread rolls and an assortment of Mexican dips and chips. The main meal was a buffet style with offerings of pork belly, curry and rice, beef cheeks and so much more.  If anyone were still hungry, they could choose from a selection of delicious mini desserts and tea and coffee.

Entertained was provided throughout the night by a colourful ballerina encased in a big clear ball who danced and rolled around the venue all night.  Later in the evening there was a surprise visit from two dancing winter fauns!!  After some special awards were handed out, students and staff danced the night away with the DJ playing the students’ pre-selected requests.

Congratulations to the following students who received awards on the night, voted for by the students:

  • Cutest Couple Award – Molly Day and Tahnee Dunbar
  • Best Dressed – Kevansha Chetti, Kieran Pirie
  • Best Dancer Award – Caleb Swan and Jade Seymour
  • Most Unique Suit – Harry Bird
  • Riskiest Heels – Maya Pappin

The night was an overwhelming success, and the College would like to acknowledge and congratulate Mr Luke Foster, Ms Shyla Wyatt, the Year 12 Student Councillors, the Student Services team and all the MSC staff who contributed their time to ensure the night ran smoothly.
