Course Outline
In this course, students work practically by planning and producing original media works in teams and as individuals. They have access to industry-standard equipment and editing facilities to create media works in a range of media forms, including film, television and digital media. Students also develop their knowledge of media through responding to existing media works.
This course comprises of two units:
Unit 1 – Popular Media
The focus for this unit is popular media, exploring how audiences consume, interpret and interact with the media world that surrounds them.
Students generate ideas and learn production skills and processes, then apply their knowledge and creativity in their productions.
Unit 2 – Media Influence
The focus for this unit is media influence – a concept that underpins the construction and interpretation of media work. By exploring a range of traditional and new media work, students learn how viewpoints can be constructed, then apply this knowledge to their own productions.
Minimum Entrance Requirements
Previous experience in Media Studies would be an advantage.
