Course Outline
This course is designed to suit the needs of students considering tertiary study at the end of Year 12.
These units focus on natural hazards and impact minimisation as well as the sustainable development of globalisation.
Unit 1
Explores the dynamics of geomorphic natural hazards, such as earthquakes, and ecological hazards, including infectious diseases like COVID-19. Students will examine the impacts these hazards have on both natural and cultural environments, as well as the policies implemented to mitigate future risks.
Unit 2
Focuses on global networks and interconnections, investigating how tourism and music have spread across the world and the resulting impacts of this globalization.
Both units require students to engage in fieldwork activities, including conducting surveys, visiting Swan Valley for hands-on research, and interviewing experts in relevant fields.
Through these studies, students will develop essential skills in investigation, communication, and analysis, enabling them to form balanced judgments and propose solutions to complex global challenges.

This course aims to enable students to develop a variety of skills related to the formulation, investigation and presentation of geographical information, including the ability to:

Minimum Entrance Requirements
B Grade in Year 10 Humanities and Social Sciences.
