2025 Arts Week

On the 15th of September the Arts Department opened its annual ‘Arts Week’ event with an art exhibition by the Year 11 & 12 Visual Arts students. Stephanie Spadaro was awarded the Year 12 Art Acquisition award for her portrait of her grandparents. This award was donated and presented by Member for Burns Beach, Mr Mark Folkard MLA. Izzy Hanington won the Principal’s Card Award for her GIANT horse sketches. This artwork will be the image on the 2025 College greeting card. Heather Savery won the inaugural Sam Bloor (MSC Alumni) Emerging Artist Award- the intention of which is to fund a future art project. The Year 11 & 12 photography students also had their work on display for guests to view. All students should be congratulated for the outstanding displays of their work.

After the Art Exhibition, guests headed into the Performing Arts Space to view the Year 11 and 12 General and ATAR Dance students’ On the Floor showcase.  There were 25 dance recitals from a variety of genres, with one being a tap routine from Dance teacher, Ms Trick! This event was sold out prior to the night.

On Tuesday the 16th guests were treated to a Drama and Media event showcasing some extraordinary talent. The Drama performances ranged from Year 12 solos in preparation for their WACE exams to group performances displaying their storytelling abilities. The Media production videos showed the passion and enthusiasm the students have for their art expressing themselves through visual texts.

Arts Week wrapped up on Wednesday the 17th of September with the Year 11 and 12 Music students show No Strings Attached which was a fabulous finale for the week. The Year 12 students treated the audience with some of their original songs that they recorded and produced for the Year 12 Music original album (on USB) which is available to purchase from the Front Office for $10.00 each.  Summer Swift was awarded the Performance Award for all the events she performed at over the two years at the College and Hudson Buckingham won the Recording Award for being the most engaged and prepared for recording his original songs.

Congratulations to all students who were involved in Arts Week either performing, displaying their artwork/photos, designing sets, photographing, or recording of the events. It takes a team to make Arts Week the success it was.
