On Saturday, 12 September, 363 students, partners and staff attended the 2020 Year 12 College Ball held in the Bellevue Ballroom at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.  This was the third time a date had been set due to COVID restrictions, so it was a great relief for students and staff to be able to attend the gala evening at last.

On arrival the students were offered mocktails and other soft drinks as they mingled in the foyer waiting for the reveal of the Met Gala theme.

The ballroom was transformed into hundreds of twinkling lights with a pink runway complete with an archway at the entrance.  Each table, decorated with crystal chandelier centrepieces on mirrored plates, became the perfect setting, straight from a Hollywood set, with alternating pink hues illuminating the room.

Students had the opportunity to have fun photos taken in the photo booths; a ‘live’ sketch painted and kept as a memento; selfies with a backdrop of crystal beads and professional photos taken by Bliss Studio. They danced the night away with the DJ playing the students’ pre-selected music.

In keeping with the Met Gala them there were ‘two ‘live’ sculptures on display, dressed as the Circus Master and Marie Antoinette, who intermittently blew colourful bubbles into the crowd throughout the evening.

Students had a selection of scrumptious food throughout the night starting with an entre of marinated olives, feta, cured and cooked meats, pickled vegetables, a selection of sushi and rice paper rolls.  The main meal was a buffet style with offerings of lasagne, butter chicken curry and rice, potato bake, roasted and steamed vegetables and more.  If anyone had any room left, they could choose from a selection of delicious mini desserts and tea and coffee.

Some students were lucky enough to have their photo taken by The West Australian newspaper photographer who wanted to capture some images that may very well appear in a future edition of the paper.

Congratulations to the following students who received awards on the night, voted for by the students at the Ball:
•    Cutest Couple Award – Bronte Fishwick and Jay Reynolds
•    Best Dressed – Frazer Houghton and Stephanie Fletcher
•    Best Dancer Award – Luke Reilly and Kelvin Corpus

Bliss Studios will email students when the professional photos have been uploaded to their website so students can place an order.  All students have received a $10 credit for their professional photo purchase.

The night was an overwhelming success and the College would like to acknowledge and congratulate Mrs Michelle Downer, the Year 12 Student Councillors and the Student Services team.
